"Sometimes"

Sometimes, no matter the age difference,
The love you have for one another is like no other.
The things that you thought you would never say
Are now coming out of your mouth.
The people you hated with a passion
Are now your family you know and love.
The bad habits that you were embarrassed about
Are reasons why people love you.
The classes you failed because you slept all class long
Are now classes you participate in because you’re awake.
The television shows that you hated so much
That you changed the channel when ever you saw a preview
Are now television shows you love so much
That if you miss an episode,
You’ll punish yourself by locking yourself in your room all day.
The way you have changed for this special someone are ways
You would never change for anyone else.
This change for you is the best thing that ever happened to you,
And that special someone that you changed for,
You would do anything for, even if it meant your life.

“Shattered Memories”

He missed her a lot, & he loved her, too.
He missed her too much to watch his actions lately.
Most nights, he cried himself to sleep,
Thinking of all the memories of him & her.
Before, he was the happiest guy in the world.
He couldn't be happier.
He didn't need anything more than his wife & his daughter.
Now, all he has is a daughter, a shattered heart, & faded memories.
Things aren't the same any more.
Everything is in black & white, instead of color, like it used to be.
He didn't mind the fighting with her father.
As long as he had her, he was the happiest person alive.
Now the fighting had stop.
He'd rather fight & have bruises & have her
Than no fighting & no bruises & not have her at all.

"Shattered Memories" (Con.)

She was literally his life.
The only reason he's living now is because of his daughter.
His daughter is the closet thing to her than anything else
& if he lost his daughter, too, he would take his life.
He would sacrifice his life, even though he might go to Hell
& not see his wife & his daughter in Heaven.
He did not want to live his life without any trace of her.
His wife & his daughter are basically all he had.
After him & her had ran away,
Every one of his friend betrayed him
& didn't want to talk to him after he came back.
Her & his daughter were the only people that loved him,
Threw the bad times & the good times,
& he would never forget that.

Dear Heart,
You are not so much a poet as you are a person telling your story. I suspect you have nobody to listen as you go through your life as you have described it for us.
Which poem do I like best?
I think it would be the one you have not written yet.
That would be the poem where you break free, go out on your own, live your life independently, and feel good about yourself.
I do not disrespect you, so please don't take this wrong.
I really believe you have been embroiled in a situation that you need to get out of. It is way too complicated and it sounds like you are taking on way too much responsibility for what is happening around you.
I wish I could give you a bus ticket right now and a job at the end of the bus route. You sound like a winner.

Now, go win.

Hm, I think the second one, "Shattered memories", is better because it has stronger emotions involved, the tension running through the guy's head and the longing in his heart. The first one talks about the changes/events happening in a person's life, then at the end mentions that it's because of the lover. It's nice too, very true, what you wrote. But poetry-wise the second one is better. Keep it up!
