And did you actually do it?

In some ways, yes.
My parents tend to be (often unknowingly) critical and judgmental. I have broken away from that pretty successfully.

I also have learned not to care what others think about me. I have gained a lot of confidence. I am not a follower. Just because the latest trend might be weighing 80 pounds, doesn't mean I have to follow it!

I also very rarely drink because I tend to drink for the wrong reasons...to release anxiety/depression, and make myself more social.

On that note, please don't drink and drive!

Yes. Fortunately I had given myself a 5 year deadline to try out living in a city. For whatever reason or lack of, I ended up drinking, unhealthy, lonely, and farther from my goal.
One night I just asked God to help me. I envisioned what I wanted. That night my boyfriend asked me to leave the city with him. So I said yes.
The marriage did not work out. After 20 years, I still have problems but I have a family and a home and a comfortable life.
Changing location had the biggest effect. Changing myself is harder.
Good luck.

yes, after drug aduction and mental illness (bipolar) got in the way, i ha to take 1 1/2 years off from school to get everything in order. it was the hardest work i ever did. but after all the therapy and programs and medications and everything, i am now clean and sober and in college. i also am in my first positive relationship with a man and have never felt better about my familys relationship. ive also been able to keep a steady job. like i said, it was not easy and there were times where i thought i couldnt make it. but hard work and patience pays off

Yes I have. My past has been a ride from hell, I'm married and the past has effected all that we have. Not that long ago I'd gone on holiday to see my mum with our son, not just for a holiday but to think about everything. when I came home my frame of mind had changed and i feel a little better. Now its time for my husband to see thing's a little differently

Sure did. I used to be used by some people who claimed to be my friend, I think i may have braught on some of it myself by not creating boundries. But no more, it took 3 years to learn the longest lesson i have learnt but yeah.

I find if you want to change something hard enough, you will make it happen. Never give up its your life and you deserve to live it the way you desire.

wow good question!

it's hard and slow- try to make "one grain of sand" progress a day - if you think you can just go through a revolving door and come out super-wonderful- it's an illusion that's not gonna feel good at all-

study, read books- watch "The Secret"

Yes, I was fat. I began exercising, and lifting weights. I did't even have to change my diet, and i lost 20 pounds. Mind over matter.
