They are pitching and hitting as well as any team in baseball. They go out and the play hard and they never give up. It's just that simple.

Because they have the best team going right now. No simple answer. They havent run into much in the way of injuries and where they have they have gotten lucky in that other players have stepped it up in the mean time. Their pitching has been great. They were the last team in the entire league to have a releif pitcher recieve a decision for a game. Their starting pitching consistantly goes 6-7 innings. The only thing i worry about is their starting pitching wearing out by the allstar break. I hope things hold out through the world series though.

I love how people call this Dice K "great"...please. Average at best. Every team has one of him except for maybe KC and Tampa Bay. And when did Boston get appointed the best team in the Majors? Why because they have over 30 wins in a crap division? Or is it because the bullpen is the best part of that team? After Beckett--any pitcher on that staff is very beatable--yeah Schilling too. Just like Redsox fans to count their money (World Series) before getting a paycheck (July-October). Beating on lowly NYY impresses nobody.

the redsox are the best team in baseball for alot of reasons.they argulably have the best starting rotation in baseball, with an ace in curt schilling, josh beckett(whos 6-0),dice-k(whos getting used to MLB in u.s.a)and of course a veteran pitcher in tim wakefield.they have a great offense(leading the AL in walks and batting).a good bullpen thats well rested and the best in AL.a of course a dominant closer in jonathan papelbon.if the bredsox keep on playing like this, they,ll run away with that division this early in the season.
GO REDSOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Red Sox bullpen has improved dramatically this year. In the past, the bullpen would risk losing a game for the Sox even with a big lead. This year we have Okajima (who has pitched AWESOME), Papelbon and others who have done their jobs and not blown leads. Our starting pitching is also very good and if the bats stay consistent, it will be hard to catch us.

r u kidding?!?!?
Pitching-Best rotation in baseball with Schilling, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefeild, and Tavarez
all with low ERA's
Hitting-not the best but wer starting to pick it up and we always get the hits wen we need them
Defense-not as good as last season but wer still near the top
we also have heart and do anything to win...wew might be "idiots" and "dirt dogs" but we care about the game and listen 2 the coaches
o ya and we have excellent coaching and management--Epstein=GOD

The hitting is great but I'm going to have to wonder if their pitchign will hold up. The bullpen looks average(not counting Papelbon)the starting pitching is good but this is their problem.
Schilling-Is becoming streaky as he gets older and is not as good as he once was.
Beckett-Very good so far but will he keep it up?
Tavarez-Not good so far.High ERA
Dice-k-Good but has not lived up to the hype.
Wakefield-No offense when he pitches.

We have great pitching and with the addition of Lugo-a solid
offensive that clicks. when Manny picks up his pace we will be even better and of course the Yankees suck.
