Young people tend to rebel. The current generation coming of age includes the children of a lot of very left-wing baby-boomers who had kids a little later in life than previous generations. And, the media they are presented with has rather a left-wing bias.

Also, there's a tendency by older folks, like us, to be alarmed at whatever the younger generation is doing, so we're more likely to notice when they disagree with us, politically, than when they agree.

I noticed a lot after 9-11... a nationalistic fervor after a great tragedy... to be expected...

but more recently, I've noticed people moving away from that again... espeically with the Iraq situation

Because someone knocked some sense into them. It sure as heck wasn't the media. Most likely their parents who have good morals and are succeeding.
