ebay does rule. You just have to be careful, advertise things correctly, and read people's feedback.

I got ripped off from eBay once. If you're truly being ripped off, you need to keep a record of proof of payment. Somewhere in "My eBay", you can file a report with eBay and they will either get the person to refund you, or they will personally pay up to 175 dollars. The process takes some time, but the eBay people were VERY helpful and side with the buyer, not the seller. However, do not place too much trust in the USPS. Just stay in contact with the guy - it's possible he genuinely has not received the money order yet. I apologize for not being able to provide links or anything...it was some time ago I had to go through the whole process.

I've been very happy with the things I bought off eBay in the past few months. No complaint there.
I raise budgies and have been hunting for bird supplies. What I find is mind blowing and annoying, is that I see so many (NIP) things (bird toys) that the sellers are asking 2, 3 & 4 times as much for as I can buy from the well-known pet supply catalogues and sites. If people are foolish enough to pay outrageous prices, that's there business....but I hate having to sort thru and sift thru all those ads. eBay is supposed to be where you go to find bargains...not pay thru the nose. You'd think they could monitor these abusive sellers better.

If at all possible I sell and buy on Craig's list and only use ebay to buy things I may not be able to find elsewhere. I have been an ebayer since 1998 and have watched them get greedier and greedier. It's much better to sell locally so that the buyer can see his item before buying it. Not only are the fees getting unbearable but most ebayers can't seem to understand the meaning of as-is.

I agree that EBAY and PAYPAL(SCAMPAL) both SUCK. They have way too many rules, not enough employees, and fraud is out of control. There are a number of other auction sites online, but none CURRENTLY have the exposer the ebay does. But keep your eyes open since it looks like google is going to get into the online auction business, if so EBAY and SCAMPAL will be DONE.

Do a search for 'online auction'. You should be able to find a site that suits you. Some offer free listing and only take fees if your item/s sell. The fees are quite reasonable, sometimes lower than eBay. Heres a link to one I found that doesn't even take a final value fee. They just charge for extra features on your listings. Hope you find something that suits you. :)

You can sell your items at amazon.com or yahoo auction. Avoid overstock auction because there are too many non paying bidder. Good luck and hope you make some moolah!

Ebay sucks.harder than a 5000watt vacuum cleaner. And I'm just a buyer!
You might try bonanza.com, I read they're good. Google "ebay alternatives" there are actually a few.

Have you tried the local farmers markets? They have lots of different items that sell there, not just produce.
