Out of that list, Bobby Orr probably ranks higher in his sport than the others. Orr is considered with Gretzky and Howe at the very top who ever played. Williams might be the greatest hitter ever but probably not in the top five. The others are down a bit.
Now ... who's missing? How about Bill Russell of the Celtics, merely the greatest winner in the history of American sports? Eleven championships in 13 NBA seasons, plus two NCAA titles. Never lost a seventh game, and never lost an NCAA game. Revolutionized the game through his defensive skill.

Bobby Orr, Ted Williams, and Larry Bird are, in my mind, on the same level and rated on the same plain.

I would have to say that they are all the best in each of their respective sports. Out of the group, if I had to pick one, I think Larry Bird is the best of all time.

Great question, though I wonder if you'd get different answers if you hadn't listed options. See who really pops into peoples' heads?
At any rate, Bill Russel and/or Red Aurbach have to be on this list.
I'd vote for Russel. Among your choices, I'd go with Orr.

Russel!!!
not only best player but so much so that you don't have to list him and people vote for him. That's like a write-in winning president.
Second, Orr.
Third, Teddy Baseball.
