What characteristics can you tell me about this guitar? Such as the color, sound, style, and overall quality. I don't need any history or anything else like that.

It's a solid body with either a flat or arched top (depending on model). It has a thick, heavy body giving it a lot of sustain and a very thick sound. It has humbucker pickups and most often a fixed bridge (no tremelo) which adds to the sustain. It has a single cutaway and the pickup selector switch is just above the neck, which is unusual, but works. unlike Strat type guitars that have a single tone knob, the Les Paul usually has a volume and a tone knob for each pickup.

It has a slightly wider, flatter neck than many guitars, which makes it good for people like me who have stubby fingers, and I believe some models have hollow sound chambers in the neck for a warmer tone.

The most famous finishes for Les Pauls is a sunburst (cherry or tobacco) with a white binding (for the archtops), black or white (for the flat tops). Most, but not all, models have a pickguard, and on archtops it is help on a bracket that keeps it away from the body and parallel to the strings.

Humbucking pickups - warm fat sound, excellent sustain. Maple top body or could be black or gold tone. Weak point where headstock joins neck - back angle prone to breakage. Ongoing discussion about best guitar ever - Gibson Les Paul or Fender Strat.
