I live well in a low cost area but it all depends on what you want and the job you have.
If you have a spouse and kids living in a low cost area means you have a big house with a yard. If your alone and want the life of a player sharing an apartment with 5 people might work for you.
My sister has lived in both and prefers the lower stress of working in a low cost area. My brother has a house on the beach in LA and never has any time but seems happy.
It all depends on you.

Florida is chasing people away nowadays because of the high cost of living. Currently I have a handful of friends that have been trying to sell their houses for the past year with no success.
The cost of property insurance is crazy and continuing to grow. We are currently looking at moving to Missouri as a result. I've had other friends that have already headed to Tennessee.
I say, if you're not already in it, to head to where its cheaper to live. This way you'll be able to enjoy the sunnier states because you have more money saved to do so.
Good luck!

Live poor where there are higher property values. You'll earn more money because the local wages will be higher to account for the higher cost of living.
Make your money where the cost of living is high, and save, save, save! Retire where the cost of living is lower, so you can spend the rest of your life in comfort.

What good does it do you if you live in a great area and can't afford to eat and live with the fear that you could loose your house with the first thing that went wrong. Surely there is some middle ground between the two extremes that you mentioned.

So shame on them who restrict mining and logging of their own international places yet verify they are in a position to touch this' u . s .'s aspects. This roots from the rattling colonization of united statesa.. With this, the Filipinos with positions in th Philippines have been too submissive to the demands of united statesa. which i think of is fairly undesirable on our area. we are dropping all we've through demands of stars and stripes...
