well i have had her for a month now and she seems fine... but the spots weren't there for the frist three weeks i've had her they are just now showing up. i bought her a walmart, my return policy has expired, i would rather heal her and keep her.

it just looks like scales the white spot it is its one large white spot right under her gill.... i bought two fish from petsmart and went back the next day only to see the tanks i had gotten my fish from were under quaretine so i put a plastic bowl in there with the recommended salt at the bottom with gravel on top, they said it would cure parasites should i continue with this treatment? also i have a red dalmation mollie, he is gaining black dots... is this his color maturing or should i be looking for illness because he acts healthy and fine to me?

yeah i know walmart was a stupid choice for fish... but cant and wouldnt take them back they are beautiful mollies, and i was impressed with the overall health as to the others at some pet stores.

If the spots are larger than a grain of salt I would seriously doubt it's ich. Two main choices come to mind. One a fungus and two columnaris. In both cases the spots would be at least a little fuzzy looking. Very round spots would indicate columnaris which would need to be treated with an antibiotic. The best choice is Furanace if you can get that. If not Maracyn TC or any other tetracycline should get the job done.

If the spots aren't all that round and are spread around on the fish, this more likely a fungus. There are several good fungus medications on the market, just pick one and treat as the package directs.

Neither of these treatments will have a negative impact on the babies either in vitro or after delivery.

probably not ich. ich is a parasite and looks like someone sprinkled salt onto the fish, so if it's large it's most likely not ich.

if the fish is acting fine I wouldn't be worried about it, but could you describe the white spot a little more? like does it stick out or does it just look like white scales? is it cottony or stringy?

*edit*
if she's pregnant I would't treat her with anything but salt. that treatment won't hurt her, so keep it up and see if she gets better. however, I'm not convinced it's parasites, sound to me like it might be an infection of the gills or something. so keep the water she's in super clean.

as for the dalmation molly, most likely just hsi coloration changing, but keeping an eye on him for a bit would be a good idea.

It sounds more like some type of fungal infection I've no idea what sort of treatments you have in the U.S. but would suggest MM would know something more pertinent something with malacite green in copper based, you need to go back and look for a different prepriatary treatment, seen as wal mart caused it i'd break there door down.

I know we all live worlds apart but why would you buy something like live fish from a stack em and rack em shop, you know they want to put things out as cheap as they can so they'll take every short cut going, fine for equipment but not fish.
