Yes, we have several places close by that pay minimum. Some of them are through temp services, the service pays minimum and they get a couple more dollars an hour than that from the company that is hiring.
These people are all ages. I knew a lady close to retirement age, and several with half grown kids. It does happen. These are all people with no marketable skills, or ones that haven't found employment in a field they can make a bit more at.
Mind you, eventually they make more money, but they start at minimum wage and stay there for quite some time.
Sad state of affairs, those people were hard pressed to buy a candy bar from the vending machine. And most were supporting families. Factory workers.
Those companies are still here, and still operating the same way. Same pay.

I'm under 18 and i dont even work for minimum wage, our country is not dependent on minimum wage because minimum wage jobs are given to illegal immigrants who are paid under the table...if the minimum wage were abolished then there would be no need for illegal workers and supply-demand would set wage

I know older people who work for North Tec, an Estee
Lauder company who started out on minimum. I think they
were able to get a quarter raise after a few years.
Go figure. Makers of one of the most expensive make-up,
pays the least.

You'd be surprised. Most servers do. In some cities, it's almost impossible to get a job that isn't minimum wage.
