Fox News Tears Apart Al Gore’s New Book ‘Assault on Reason’
It goes without saying that one of the great things about being a beloved liberal is that when you write a new book, no one in the media will challenge any of the obvious falsehoods you present as facts.
Such has certainly been the case as newspapers, magazines, and television programs have gushed over former Vice President Al Gore and his new book “Assault on Reason.”
Fortunately, feeling that it doesn’t owe anyone such unwarranted sycophancy, Fox News “Special Report” on Tuesday chose to look at some of the statements made in Gore’s book, and see whether they pass the smell test.
Anchor Brit Hume set the segment up (video available here):

I have not read Al's book and won't waste my money buying it, all that it contains is an attack on the presiding President. The clear warnings that Al discusses is because in 1996 the CIA had found documentation that warned Osama Bin Laden planned an attack on the CIA using aircraft. Then in 1998 they found a letter that terrorists were planning to destroy a skyscraper in New York. Bush only received information of such an attack a few weeks before it happened, can anyone say that they would have taken such a report seriously since the same claim was made in 1998? All of you LIBS, give me the thumbs down, not because you disagree but because you know that I am right!

The book is not actually about the Bush's decisions regarding the Iraq war, although he certainly does mention it. It is more about how "the politics of fear, secrecy, cronyism, and blind faith has combined with the degradation of the public sphere to create an environment dangerously hostile to reason" (as one Amazon editor so eloquently put it). And focuses mainly on how the current-and, I suppose, past- administration ignores facts and rational analysis when making policy decisions. So it seems odd to me that FOX news chose only to focus on the Bush-bashing bits and completely skipped over the overall message of the book. I always find it annoying when people let their petty little partisan quibbles get in the way of rational thinking.

Just my two farthings' worth.

I can see why people who are apparently only interested in propaganda and blitheringly idiotic statements from Dems like Al Gore don't like Fox New. How someone could listen to those blatant flip flops and not be genuinely embarrassed to call themselves a Democrat is beyond my comprehension.

Way to set the record straight Brit.

Faux is such a reliable, unbiased source. Don't waste your time with it. Do you really think the news media is doing an adequate job of informing people about issues like war, the economy, the environment, health...when they deliberately spend so much time filling up the small amount of actual news time with stories about Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, American Idol and all the other b.s. they deliberately distract peoples' attention with?
