There's a program available for free download called Audacity. Download the software, go to your local radio shack and purchase a cable that has phono plugs on one end (white/Red) and a 1/8" plug on the other end. Plug the 1/8" plug into the jack on your computer labeled input, and connect the other end to your phonograph player. Run the software and start your LP playing and press the red record button on Audacity at the same time.

Here's what I do: from my reciever (where the phonograph is hooked up) I run RCA's from the audio out to a joiner that joins the 2 RCAs to a single 1/8 in plug that fits in either the mic jack or the line-in jack of my PC's soundcard. The I launch my recording software (i use Goldwave) and select teh line-in for recording. After I record one side of teh LP, I then use the program to split the file into individual songs, then convert to MP#. That's just me. There are programs that will allow you to record directly to MP3. In the case of LPs, Goldwave is good for editing out clicks and pops.
