I'll be trying to make it to the SFO airport on a friday afternoon with a flight departing at 7:55pm. Can I make it from the Hotel Whitcomb(market rd.) to the airport in time for my flight if I left at 5:30pm? Or will I be stuck in traffic, and miss the flight?

Yes, its Market Street, the Ramada Plaza. And its an international flight to Canada.

i live in sf. i am not familiar with the hotel whitcomb. i assume you mean market street (i do not know of a market road). if so, you can either take a taxi or the bart to sfo. a taxi will cost about $40 and take prob 30-45minutes and bart if timed right about 45 minutes and $5. assuming you are staying near union square, you could take the bart from powell or montgomery street stations.

you should def. make your flight if you leave at 5:30!

Well if you mean this Friday May 25th, you may want to get to the airport at 5:30, not leave ur hotel in SF at that time. It is a holiday weekend and most people will be getting off early to go out of town. The traffic will be crazy and so will the airport. Also, colleges are out and you will have students heading out of SF and flying home with all the other summer ready people. If you must leave at 5:30...Take Bart it will drop you off and doesn't get caught in traffic...however, it can have delays, but that is less likely then a holiday car accident, which is inevitably

That is commute hour and on Fridays, a lot of people take off work earlier so traffic can be lighter than it normally is. If traffic moves along (no accidents or road repairs on your route leaving the city and on HWY 101 to the airport) you would probably get there before takeoff time. You aren't allowing any time for problems, though.

I'm not a seasoned traveler but I'd allow more time to drive, park, and to be sure I am there ready to check-in 2 hrs.before departure.

I agree with others. I'd ditch the car and take BART.

You can also try Bart to SFO. It's cheap and fast. But check the schedule first. It's online.

That's plenty of time to make it to the airport.
If you already have a rental a car, you will be fine driving yourself and checking the car in.

I agree with sftraveler; take a cab. It shouldn't take more than an hour, even with traffic.

That's asking alot.
If you decide to try, have a taxi ready and wear flip-flops.
