I don't think it has so much to do with the person's avatars, I think it has more to do with the answers they give and the questions they ask. So I guess it's more like having a crush on someones mind rather than appearances alone.

i dont think its that weird to think a cartoon avatar is attractive.. animation has come a long way the past couple of years..but thinking that you actually have a chance is something totally different

i guess its because they are perposely designed to look like people therefore peopel project human emotions onto them. i think it also has alot to do with the thing they say as well, and because they dont actually know the person behind the avatar they have to pin there attraction on something.

no, not really. a lot of cartoon characters are hot. especially in animes. but there's a big difference in thinking "ooh he/she is hott... *drool*" and "I wonder do I have a chance? *fixes hair*" the second is just plain nuts....
