Sometimes the compliments I give don't come out as intended, though. Recently, my wife and I were in a restaurant we go to fairly frequently, and a waitress we hadn't seen for a while was sporting a beautiful tan. I said, "Hey, great-looking tan! Where'd you get it?" (Thinking she's been to Florida or somewhere for a while.) She looked displeased, stuttered a bit and said, "Uh, before graduation I went over to the salon ..." and then rushed off. My wife laughed, and said, "I bet THAT'S a question she doesn't get very often!" Oh well ...

No, I'm not very good with receiving compliments. It makes me feel put on the spot and uncomfortable.

It does. This happened to me just yesterday. I was talking to my boss about some personnel issues, and one of the heads of another department passed by, saw me and came into my bosses office to tell him what a great job I was doing.
I was really amazed. Quite out of the blue.

On most day's it does unless I am just having a bad day then it doesn't even matter what anyone say's if I am in a bad mood then nothing can bring me out of it, just time alone!

At a wedding, a man complimented my dress. That was surprising. I told my husband and he looked like he wished, he had said that.
