Hey, all they have to do is look it up on the internet...problem is people are too lazy or the sad reality is they don't want to know.
I don't know why you people in the US always make this an issue over "the military". I think soldiers take it personally when people speak against war, but it's not an attack on any soldier I don't feel...people simply want war to end and don't want to see or hear of anyone being killed. I know it's hard to not feel the support at times like this but really, it will have to end at some point in time.
Being forced to serve in the military for 6 years would do what? Convert you for all eternity? I'm sure it would. Who could be "normal" after seeing the attrocities of war.
Why would you want to wish that on anyone? It almost sounds like a pre-requisite for becoming a citizen, much in the same way a terrorist would say hey, if you a true muslim, you will conquer the infidels...so what's the difference between the two of you when each side is both fueling the problem?
Learn to be an independent nation and get along with your own citizens, and you wont need to be at war with anyone.
You can't create a perfect country of one thought and mind...Hitler tried it and it backfired big time.

I will never say it is good to fight in a war just because what it does to the soldier. If the cause is worthy enough I will go die for it.
But there has not been a war in a long time that did that.

I think anyone who believes this war is pointless and stands on the funeral procession of fallen soldiers, or makes decisions for someone that goes to war really should know what it is like to go to war. There are alot of people who still believe in the good in this country and are willing to fight a great battle for this land. The reality is - If we do not fight there ... we will fight here. Sooner or later they will come to our soil. Before anyone decides whether to be for or against they should talk to someone who was in the war and let them tell you that yeah it sucks but they understand that they have to fight. BTW the whole VIDEO game MOVIE Bullshit is just that. THAT IS A GAME. It is nothing like watching your best buddies die in front of you.

i do no longer understand whether or no longer the British get excitement from conflict yet we've been rather solid at it for a number of of our historic previous. i'm conscious the emotions of area of the inhabitants of eire upon this count number and actually understand that view. even with the undeniable fact that, it would not detract the bravery of those human beings from that component of the water dashing to Britain's choose in the two international Wars even however in neither case have been they legally absolute to take action. by the style, Irishmen from the two component of the border gained the wonderful quantity of bravery awards in WW2 - that during itself, to me, proves they're particularly tasty whilst in touch. With the wonderful understand to your self i've got confidence this proves that once push comprises shove extremely an excellent determination human beings of your 'wee, tiny u . s .' are, certainly, warriors of the suited classification. besides, i will't & could desire to on no account see the experience in Britain attempting impose their will on the Irish human beings by way of militia skill and that i've got confidence we've found out our lesson there. The starting to be Brit casualty/death expenses in Afghanistan are proving extra desirable than an eye fixed opener for the united kingdom inhabitants. we could desire to continually no longer be there and the individuals are slowly, too slowly, transforming into conscious of the foolishness of this actual farcical, politically prompted, adventure!

I seen both gulf wars and a bunch of BS in between them...So I would say that it would be a good thing. I think it should be required to serve at least 6 years in active military duty before EARNING the right to be a citizen of this country. It would make better people too

Yes, if people condem our troops after going through hell and back people should be drafted. I bet they are all optimists that never will reallise how horrible and heartbreaking it is. I think a part of you dies when you first kill. Our troops willingly face that for our sake, no one should demeane such bravery and valour

They have a romanticized view of war IMHO.
They think PTSD, atrocities, and coming missing an arm and/or a leg are all inventions of the 'liberal media'.
