area is the width times the height and perimeter is when you add up all the sides.

To get perimeter you add up the edges.

To get area you multiply the length times the width.

If you had a shoebox that was 6 by 10 its perimeter would be 6+10+6+10 because you are adding up those 4 edges. That totals 32 for the perimeter.

If you wanted the area of that shoebox the area would be 6 x 10 because you are multiplying those two edges. That equals 60 for the area.

I don't understand

LxLxWxW x= multiply

at all. length x length? That would be length-squared.

For perimeter, think of cop movies/shows: "Set up a perimeter...." It's the distance around a shape.

The area is the, well, area within a shape, the amount of space.

If you have a triangle that is 3 cm long and 2 cm wide, then its perimeter is:

3+2+3+2 or 3+3+2+2 or 2(3+2)--I think you were maybe trying to come up with 2(length + width)

The area: you've got 2 rows of 3. 2 x 3=6cm^2
length x width

perimeter = W + W + L + L
so if you have a rectangle with a width of 4 inches and an length of 5 inches you would have a perimeter of 4+4+5+5=18 inches

area is W x L
so if you have the same rectangle as above you would have an area of 4x5 = 20 square inches

Perimeter (of anything) is all the sides added up. Think of it like how much fence you need to close your yard, how much border you need to trim your bedroom.

Area is the space in inside. For a rectange it is length multiplied by width. It is different for different shapes.
A=L*W
Think of it like how much grass you need to cover the lawn; how much carpet you have to get to cover your floor; how much

Perimeter is the sum of all sides L+L+W+W or 2L+2W. Just add em up. Area is LxW
