The audio from my laptop started sounding like crap and clicking a lot to bass. I thought maybe I damaged my laptop speakers, so I tried playing music through two different sets of external speakers, and the clicking was still there. I've also tried playing different audio files, and I've tried playing streaming music- same problem.

So I'm thinking that the problem lies with my sound card. I don't know if it would be an issue with the settings or the actual hardware itself. :(

First, try a set of headphones.

Also, download the latest driver. The easiest way is to use Windows Update.

the 1st undertaking i might do is verify administration panel > sound and audio contraptions to verify no longer something is muted. in case you plug the headphones decrease back in and you get sound, then this is probable no longer the sound card. i understand you probable checked all of this, yet i'm going to show it besides... some desktops have on-board sound on the MB besides to a valid card. for this reason you've got 2 feasible "green" output ports to plug in the cable. be sure you're applying the suited one if it truly is the case. additionally, some modems have ports for sound additionally. be sure you're actually not mistakenly applying a sort of. I had an occasion the place I fastened someones laptop at my domicile and each little thing worked completely. whilst the guy extra it domicile he suggested he had no sound. I went by way of each and every thing returned just to be sure that the audio equipment he became applying had a turn on them to compliment an "enter gadget." Do your audio equipment have one in all those change? finally, if all else fails i might only reinstall the sound card drivers. you probable have them on a disc that got here with the laptop. If no longer you may get them from Gateway or Realtek.
