Lately I've been devouring books by Kristin Billerbeck. I also have read a good book by Lauren Walker and Sir L....something. But thjen I also read a book by Meg Cabot (Size 14 is not Fat Either) and was shocked to find it was chock-full of profanities and other bad stuff. Of course, I'm old enough to read this stuff, but hate exposing myself to it because I am very easily influenced. I can read pretty much anything, I'm a teenager and a major book worm. I was wondering if anyone has some nice, clean, book recomendations? They don't even really have to be christian, just a good book you read or an author you like that doesn't swear -too much- in their books. I want it PG-rated. Thanks!

Oh, I have sooo many. Just a sec...I want to get correct spellings.
Maximum Ride (James Patterson)
Alex Rider (Anothony Horowitz)
Ranger's Apprentice (John Flannagan)
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Rick Rionrdan)
The Bartimaeus Trilogy (Jonathan Stroud)
Eragon and Eldest (I don't have Eragon right now, so I don't know how to spell Christopher's last name)
The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis)

Most of these books are in the children’s section but they are really good books. They are my favorite!

Yes, I finally found some over the past few years. I, too, got tired of the junk. Some authors I love are Penelope Stokes, Richard Paul Evans, Crystall Stovall, John Steinbeck, J.R.R. Tolkien, Gene Stratton Porter, Gail Tsukiyama, Catherine Marshall, Caroline Cooney, Joseph Girzone, Robert Louis STevenson, Irene Hunt, Beverly Lewis, Ann Tatlock, Ann Dayton, and Janette Oke.

I have a couple of good authors; Beverly Lewis, Karen Kingsbury and Tracie Peterson, Terri Blackstock are all good Christain writers. Their books have no profanity and sexual situations are taken lightly, for example in Beverly Lewis's books they state, 'gave up her virtue' and nothing more, the same applies to other authors, so no worries about anything dirty. They're all great reads for teens as well as adults, a few books I would reccomend are:

What she left for Me-Tracie Peterson (maybe more suggestive but not detailed)
Even Now-Karen Kingsbury
Tuesday Morning/Beyond Tuesday Morning-Karen Kingsbury
Terri Blackstock-Covendant Child
Beverly Lewis-all her books deal with the Amish, and are all really great even if you aren't into Amish culture.

20 years ago, when I was a teenager my two favorite novels were Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger and A Separate Peace by ?John? Knowles.

Both are "coming of age" books about a teenager going through a time of life where they are trying to find themselves and understand their place inthe world.

Neither is a "christian" book but neither has anything that is offensive. But also they are trying to deal with important issues, so there is a strong conflict in each book that ultimately gets resolved.

A great Christian series is the Joshua books, by Joseph Girzone. The idea behind it is," What if Christ came back today?" Very good--the first book is called Joshua.
A couple of non Christian writers (well, they might be Christian, but their books aren't) that you may appreciate are Andre Norton and Anne McCaffrey. They're both fantasy/sci-fi authors, but they're both quite good and PG rated.
Oh, C.S. Lewis is another good Christian writer.

hi! I know of a good author.... He doesn't use profane words in any way. If you are a major suspense fan, you will love his books. The author is Ted Dekker. Am a teenager too and i gave read every one of his books including his collabo with Frank Perretti (Piercing the darkness). Try reading "Blink", you'ld love it. Have fun and tell me how it went.
