I need a 2 foot Fluorescent with a really bright light. Ive only been able to find 20watt 6,500k bulbs at 2 feet.

Anyone know of any other 2 foot Fluorescents I can find that will be really bright?

I know there are other choices in types of lights like MH and such but please help me with the Fluorescent problem.

Thanks

The flourescents come in 2 sizes now t8 and t5's the new t5's last longer and have better penetration, obviously for brightness you'll need to check the spectrums of individual lights, obviously theres a wide range however depending on the type of tank you have it would sound to me that your going to be running into a algae problem quiet quickly, if that isnt a worry then you could go for standard halogen spots although they're more into the blue spectrum than would be useful in a tropical freshwater tank the penetration should be good.
all those years back most of my tanks were run off standard light bulbs the only strip lights i had were in the ceiling of the garage.
