15,000,000 to 20,000,000!- how sad

There are differing estimates out there, but somewhere around 50 - 60 million people died during WWII.

I believe more Russians died than any other nationality. Including soldiers and civilians, about 25 million people met their end during the war.

Awful. WWII is arguably the single most historically significant event in human history, challenged only by the birth and subsequent life and legacy of Jesus Christ (IMO).

You aren't going to find an exact number but I would say somewhere between 65 and 75 million people died as a result of WWII. The Soviet Union suffered the highest number of war deaths at over 20 million.

The USSR suffered the greatest losses, perhaps 20-30 million, but one has to ask how many of those were killed by Stalin and how many by Germany?

There is a suggestion that 50-60 million people died in all the countries, with actually surprisingly few, in comparison, from Germany ( a few million, but nothing like the USSR)

Here is a GREAT site to give you an idea. It is not in english but that doesn't matter. Each flag/skull/symbol equals 100,000 dead. Russia lost the most hands down.

Note: The skulls are civilian deaths, the Stars of David are Jewish deaths, and each respective flag is the death of soldiers for that country. All symbols are where the deaths occured.

Well, in absolute numbers by far USSR (stalin or no stalin guys if it wasnt for the reds I doubt that D -day would have saved the day...), but if you think in relative terms small countries like Greece lost only ~500.000-600.000 but that adds up to aprox 10% of its population!!! that would mean that USSR should have lost 40M people!!!...impresive....
