How would you solve those problems?

illegal immigration
the welfare system
homelessness

i have no idea what i would do to fix it.
maybe shoot to kill at the borders that would be protected by a huge electrified fence.
welfare- mandatory drug testing monthly in order to collect a welfare check. one must prove that they need to be on welfare and cannot get a job otherwise. home inspections to see that money is being spent well and for what it is needed. as well as requiring welfare recipients to pay for drugs they get (more than $1 for prescriptions) and also to pay for public services that are not free to the rest of us. the welfare system is so overly abused it isn't even funny. i work at a hospital and my husband is a fireman and it makes us angry to see the things that people do just because they can.

with all of the money we would save with the welfare system we would have money to help homeless people get back on their feet

Spot on!!!!!!! Bush was bad,but this idiot in power now,is just making it worse. He has not honoured any promise he made during his run for office,he is continuing a war, that he promised to end,at an even higher cost, both in lives and dollars. Our tenth generations, will still be paying off this debt, while he does nothing to stop jobs going to China and Mexico. The answer to your question is,NOTHING.He will do absolutely NOTHING.Both the Dem's and the Rep's are both as bad as each other and,it's time for a new party,a new Government, that will put the lives of the American people first, along with the ORIGINAL constitution of the United States,by amending all the amendments.Close the borders, isolate China from American jobs, recreate education and break the corporations that have broken the country.ExxonMobil and Wal-Mart have done exactly what AT&T did in the 1980's.The Government took them down,by banning their monopoly,Putting America back on track is the only way the American people will survive. They deserve that right and demand it.That's what 1776 was about, that's what the Civil War was about and it's also what all wars including the present,is all about. If things do not change,it can end only one way.Civil War on the streets of America.

The deficit, I would audit the Congressional budget and find the money a pay down the debt.

The war, I would redeploy all U.S. Forces to Kuwait on a wait and see mission and refit.

Gas prices, Lower the federal tax on a gallon and get with the governors to lower there state tax some, of course it would only be a small help.

1. Remember when television was free? Isn't that what commercials are for? From now on everyone gets every channel in existence for free. My satellite bill is like $45 a month. That's just wrong.....it's inconceivable!

2. Breast augmentation should be a right, not a privilege.

3. If there really is a war on drugs; we lost it. Let's move on. Legalize it, tax the fool out of it, and fund the schools. Just like we did with Prohibition.

The War,beat on them until they quit.

Gas prices, drill and build in America, creating thousands of jobs and reducing dependence on foreign oil.

The deficit, after #'s 1&2 slap spending caps on government, the only pork in America would be on farms .
25% of tax revenue would go to paying down the debt.

NO NEW TAXES AND reduced old ones.

Boy, this is a good one. (1) repair of foreign relations, including development of an exit strategy from the Middle East (note, not just Iraq); (2) Federal deficit (which includes inflation and decaying infrastructure issues), (3) the graying of America -- which includes everything from the expected demands on health care from baby boomers to Social Security funding. You've asked how I'd solve these problems. With 16-hr days of hard work throughout my term as President, and the talent of the most practical, brilliant advisors that this country can put on each of the problems...I have ideas but a single person's ideas isn't going to solve any of these problems. Put the right people on the question, listen to them, send them back to answer each other's questions, listen again (or ask another expert -- for ex., by asking economists to figure out the cost of a solution proposed by health care experts) and then make an executive decision. Keep moving in a positive direction on each problem, even if it's only in baby steps. Ten small decisions may be more achievable than one giant policy move that gets shot down by Congress. Following President Reagan's example as the Great Communicator and President Clinton's example as a Moderate with the country's best interest in mind (for ex., his position on welfare reform which was unpopular with his own party), I'd present the results of all this work to the public. If policies make good sense, I'd trust the American people to understand. If they don't understand, I'd try harder to explain more clearly.

In my free time, I'd address programs for encouraging technology and industry development in this country again (a) additional funding of government scholarships for science, math, nursing and medical majors, with tax breaks that will assist with repayment tied to public service (b) additional patent protections to encourage return on investments I'd have a task force look with fresh eyes into long-established current programs, such as the initiative zones for bringing jobs to depressed areas and National Science grants, to see whether they've become pork barrel Congressional bargaining chips or if they're still working effectively and are providing returns on the governtment's investment of tax dollars. My Task Forces would include respected members of both parties, with reputations for independent thinking.. Each Task Force would be given access to a Cabinet Member and results-oriented project scheduling, to ensure that they don't get sucked into the Beltway Twilight Zone were nothing ever gets done after numerous meetings.

I'd push hard for voter education and voter registration, and have another Task Force look at moving proposed federal legislation down to the state and local levels. For any legislation that comes to a vote in Congress, there should be an assessment as to whether it involves a federal issue or a state/local issue--ie, states rights. No one doubts that the people of New York City have very different concerns and issues than people in Omaha, Nebraska -- so why should people in Washington DC make so many laws that affect them both? If people had more opportunity to speak out on referendums affecting them, they'd be more interested in voting.

I believe in my country and I believe that our problems can be fixed with the right team working on problems and the right leadership. We need to dump old partisan politics and networks, and go back to pride in our country and what Americans can do together. We need a leader who is a consensus-builder and who is humble and truly grateful for the opportunity to serve, not who makes running for President a career because he/she knows he/she is smarter than everyone else..
