Deviance from the status quo has always been frowned upon and even violently opposed.

Ever hear of a guy named Jesus?

Ever hear of a place called Auschwitz?

If you'd like to do a compareitive study of bad treatment, take a field trip to Tiananmen Square and hold up a sign (language doesn't matter) that simply reads "Remember the protests of 1989".

A lot of people label me as an emo, but I'm not hated by any of my more religious friends. Many people hate goths and emos simply bcause they are used to goths and emos who disrespect their beliefs. I think that maybe we need to change the way we present ourselves if we want to change the way we are seen.

Emos and Goths get treated bad because people don't take the time to see who these people really are and they just assume that their bad people.

Anyone who acts/dressed differently is persecuted by the majority, who has nothing else better to do. And, people think emo music sucks, but they don't even know what emo music is. MCR and Green Day are NOT emo, people.

Oh get over yourself.

The self-obsessive whining of emos and goths is just boring when compared with people who have real problems.

Emos & Goth being ill treated? I am not sure where I see this before, but if anything maybe misscommunication and misunderstanding. It has to be reminded taht we tend to be hostile against something that we dont understand.

coz it's too blatant that they're trying to be different, that's why.
The majority of them are just attention seeking, there's blatantly something wrong in their heads when they're all like 'ohhh i want to die', it's like c'mon guys get a grip.
It's not something you want to be wishing upon yourself, even if you don't mean it.
If the majority of people were emo's/goffs then they wouldn't be them, they'd find another look so they can be different to the crowd.

Because they are different. People are afraid of things that are different and unknown and they tend to deal with it by trying to destroy them. There has, and always will be people who are different than the majority and aren't afraid to show it. Therefore there will always be people that try to destroy them. You could compare it to worldwide politics. There will always be other countries That think different than the US, therefore the US will always be at war with these countries.

I'm from the US, I'm just using it due to convenience, i have nothing against our country, just its government.

Nothing new. Back when I was in school it was the "punks" that were looked down on.
