I think that it would depend on from whom you are renting it - if it is an apartment complex or rental agency, then there's probably no cheapest time of year. I know in my area, the best time to rent an apartment from an individual is right after college lets out, as the students that have graduated will likely not renew their leases.

Well let's give this some thought. Is it in the mountains or on the beach? Is it in a major city, college town, resort, or in the boonies? Is the market full of apartments on in need of apartments? Sometimes renting a house is a better deal especially if you can find reliable roomates. Can you fix stuff? Does the apt. complex need a helper for reduced rent? What about your transportation needs and proximity to whatever you do? A deal that's 20 miles from work or school may not be a deal if you have to drive. How long is the rental contract or is it month to month? What about deposits for utilities or does one payment cover all bills? What about renters insurance and is that a factor? Good luck & aDios

Unless you rent in a seasonal/ touristy area- it shouldn't matter, you will be charged the market rate...... but if you want to rent in a beach or ski area, the cheapest rents would be in the "off" season (ie July and August in Florida, versus the winter months). But most places, it doesn't make a difference- the market rate is the going rate.
