Please give me a quick response.

I'll be the first........no way should we leave because of what would happen if we did. Can you say "terrorist haven?" Also, I have more faith in our troops than faith in the American media.

Coming home makes no sense. I can't even imagine the chaos and I certainly can't understand how anyone could support it.

So please, enlighten me.

And don't even get me going on a "troop withdrawal timetable." Either we leave or stay.....there's no middle compromise with leaving a war. I can't even believe grown-ups could support that.

Good question! After reading the long list of answers I had to jump in.

Of course no one wants the war to continue. Arguably you would have to be insane to want our men and women to be in harms way in the kind of battle we are fighting in Iraq. However, when you consider the fact that these islamic fanatics have stated over and over that they want to kill us, the divide being caused by our presence can be justified.

To those that want to leave: Just imagine a people that would cut off the hand of a shoplifter, or mutilate a women for an unintentional look, or kill their own kind because they did not believe in one aspect of the Koran. Why would you think a people that believe killing an infidel will induct them into a heaven that would provide 72 virgins at your side, or convince mothers that their children are martyrs if they die killing an infidel.

No matter what the reason we originally went there, someone definately needed to go. You say pull out of Iraq while Iran is obviously producing weapons grade fusionable material (IAEA today in Drudge). The Talaban (Soccer stadium executions, mutilations and stonings)are re-immerging and Mushariff has been holding Pakistan together while OBL sits on one of their mountains bragging about his American kills.

Give me a break, you can bet that Reid and Pelosi would be singing a different song had they been in the drivers seat when 9/11 happened.

Note to PoopsMag: No one know how many died after we left Viet Nam in 1973, recent statistic put the death rate in South East Asia as twice the amount that the US inflicted in the ten years of fighting that war. But it's for sure, those that died in neighboring countries such as Cambodia and Laos would argue your statistics. You and Colmes are correct that Viet Nam is better since we left, but it didn't happen over night.

My favorite quote about the whole mess: Thanks for the perceived loss and the countless assasinations and torture visited upon the Vietnamese, Laotians, and Cambodians that goes mainly to the American media and their undying support-by-misrepresentation of the anti-War movement in the United States. Wonder if that quote will re-immerge?

So you really think there will be a slaughter if we leave? Why would there be? Most of the "sectarian" problems now are attacks on people cooperating with and aiding the "occupation" forces. Guess who the "occupation" forces are.

Don't tell me the Sunni and Shiia will kill each other! These sects live side by side peacefully in virtually every country in the region. FACT: There is a large Jewish community in IRAN.

This whole adventure in Iraq has NOTHING to do with democracy or freedom for the people of the region. It IS about creating a reason (chaos anyone?) to occupy the oil fields and make sure they remain under western control.

Iraq replaced into being dealt with extra desirable than maximum different midsection jap international places formerly we wrecked it. Saddam replaced into keeping the fee of oil all the way down to '60's tiers and since the 1st Gulf conflict have been below united statesa.'s thumb. the present conflict replaced into over 5 years in the past undergo in techniques the 'victory' parades? Now you're occupying the rustic (badly) and as long as you do you provide Al Quada each and every thing they desire. that is political, if your president isn't purely a spokesman for the commercial/protection tension complicated and Obama receives in you will pass away them to combat it out and finally end up w. 2 everlasting enemies. that is nicely worth remembering that the U. S. ran out of Vietnam and now that is doing great.

We are in yet another war that really has nothing to do with us. It is President George Bush's personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein that go us there in the first place because he believes Hussein tried to kill his Father when he was president. We need to get out NOW and spend the money on the poor Americans that need the help!

We leave because we've already won. Terrorist haven? Seriously, what do you call it now? That's not part of that "fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here" argument is it? Because that makes no tactical sense. Why would deploying the entire national guard, leaving no one to watch our borders, make us safer from a terrorist attack? If they wanted to hit us, now's the time.

Iraq has a constitutional democracy now, and a duty to defend it. If they can't or won't do that, then they aren't ready for such an advanced form of governing. We can offer them freedom, but it's really up to them to take it. If we hold their hands for the next century, it won't make a difference. When we leave, they either stand or fall; it's their destiny to work out.

So let's pull our troops now, and stop sacrificing our patriots for their cause. It's time.

We are involved in a civil war being fought by Iraqis against Iraqis for power. We want to choose the winners.

Let them choose their own leadership. We did that for them before when we gave them Saddam Hussein!

Can you imagine the chaos in Vietnam when we withdrew? Did we CARE then?

Did we care when we starved to death 500,000 children under 5 with our blockades?

And the Commanding General in Iraq has already said their is NO MILITARY SOLUTION to the war!

Why do you want to keep getting our kids killed! I imagine the deaths in Iraq would decrease if we were no there!

It is past time to leave. We created a civil war, and there is no way WE are going to stop it.

39 kids shipped home in body bags in the past 10 days!! 3,707 KIA's! What is your goal for those who are dying?

This isn't the proper medium to answer this question fully..but one of the main justifications for a withdrawal is that our troops are actually inciting terrorism and continued fighting.....essentially we are the fuel to the fire....that is one justification there are many more which i'm sure someone will address here.

To Runn: First, over 6 million vietnamese were killed by the US. second, the deaths were in the hundreds of thousands not millions after the US withdrawal. third, you are not addresing the fact that vietnam, just like alan said, developed into a stable country that was not imperialistic.

I was discussing this today with the people I am forced to work with. We think they should exit Iraq and go to Afghanistan, burn all the poppy fields, and get the entire middle east destroyed on the smoke, as long as there is a good east-northerly wind following.

Our troops should leave Iraq because they're not doing any good there. Let's send them where they can do some good. If not home, then to Afghanistan, to break al-Qaeda for once and for all. And to find and kill Osama bin Laden. Remember him?
