Say goodbye to 600 hp.

I'm not petrified of running out of oil like some people, but eventually, whether it's five years from now or 50 years from now, I think all cars will be required to have a hybrid engine.

This has nothing to do with gas prices. I'm just curious how these supercars are going to deal with a pitiful hybrid engine in them.

Never, will the government require all cars to be hybrids. To believe that is delusional. not realistic.

what will most likely happen though is that the lowest MPG allowed in a new vehicle will be regulated. such as, "you cannot make a car that gets anything less than, say, 35mpg city."

to make everyone purchase a hybrid is not possible. But what a lot of these higher-end car manufacturers are doing is investing millions and millions of dollars in research and development to create engines that can get 600hp with either a hybrid engine or an engine that is more fuel efficient.

so believe me, they've got that covered. Don't worry about that. they aren't about to let that market die off. remember, they bring in billions of dollars in revenue, and they are known for being the best and ahead of the game. they're plenty scrambling.

and its not being a hybrid that people necessarily want, its plain and simple FUEL EFFICIENCY

Hybrids are a fad. They are a stop-gap measure until better technology comes along. The auto companies admit it. The only reason most people buy hybrids is to be thought of as some kind of tree hugging hollywood type limosine liberal! Consider this, Honda, Ford, and GM all make hybrids that look like normal vehicles. They are selling, but not briskly. Toyota makes the goofy-looking Prius, and the people that want others to notice that "they care" are lining up to plunk down cash on that rolling abortion!

If you can afford these cars then you can afford the gasoline. I have a high end Mercedes and the gas prices are just numbers to me. I pay the bill at the end of the month. I make enough money that we are a long ways from keeping me from living my lifestyle. However I have cut back my solo car driving and carpool to work during the week because I don't really need a car during the day.

There are always going to be people with money. Do you really think those that are buying Lamborghini have any worries about gas prices?

I would expect the same people who buy Lamborghini's now will be just fine buying them in the future.
