They drove the Indians onto reservations. Most notably the reservations were in the far northeastern corner when the Navajo and the Hopi were squeezed together even though they had been traditional enemies. In the southern part the Apaches, and chiefly Geronimo's tribe, were driven for years and finally forced to surrender and were moved to reservations from Oklahoma to Arizona.
