Did you "gap" the spark plug before you put it in? Also it can be the wire, if it got damaged when you pulled it off of the old plug.

You can check to see if the new spark plug is actually producing a spark. If not, you obviously have an electrical problem. Otherwise, it could be a fuel system problem, compression problem or even a timing problem. I could be way more specific, but I would have to write you a very, very long answer and I really don't have time.
Short answer is take it to a qualified mechanic.

Check your gas line.. Your carb may need to be primed... Even tho I am a woman, I still know about motors... Also, check to make sure you are getting good contact on the plug.. Clean the head of the wire...

The carb needs cleaning. That is the issue most all the time.
