I think there are all different sorts of friends. Some I've known for ages and I can trust with virtually anything. Some from work who are best for light conversation and going to lunch. Some new friends who are great for getting coffee and going to a movie. I don't trust everyone with my secrets, and I don't assume that jealousy isn't part of the equation (After all, friends are close and know all the ups 'n downs I'm having. When I'm up and they're down, chances are we won't get along as well. And vice versa.)

Give the people around you a chance and don't expect too much from them.

Well you get what you choose. Friendships like anything else is a matter of choice. I would suggest you get involved in something you enjoy and make friends there. At least you will have something in common.

True friends do exist. You just have to find them. I think you are hanging out with all the wrong people.
