When they say that your period is, for example 28 days long, do they mean from the first day you got your period to the next month you get it? Or... like 28 days since the day you ended your period to the next time you start it... or something else? I am VERY unsure. I am trying to conceive and this makes it HARD... if you can give me some suggestions.... I had my period on May 12. it ended on the 17th. I am due to get my period on June 14th or 15th. THANKS.

It's from the first day of your period. So if you have a 28 day cycle, you usually are at your most fertile 14 days after the first day of your last period - so if that was 5/12, then you would be most likely to concieve around 5/26 or 5/27.

First of all, you won't have a 28-day "period." You might have a 28-day CYCLE, but not a 28-day PERIOD.
Day 1 of your cycle is the very first day you begin menstruating. The last day of your cycle is the day BEFORE you begin bleeding again.
So if you had your period begin on May 12th, that would be day 1 of your cycle, which would make today day 12. If you typically have a 28-day cycle, that would mean your period SHOULD be due again around June 9th (because day 28 would be the day prior to the day you begin your bleeding.)

But if you have a longer or shorter cycle than the average 28 days, you should expect it either sooner or later than June 9th.

Hope that made sense!

It's 28 days from the start of your last period to the start of your next period. However not all girls periods are exactly 28 days. So you best bet would be to have sex about 12-14 days into the cycle. But if your serious about getting pregnant I would do it more often.

it is from the 1st day of your period, even if your period starts at 10pm that is still considered your first day. If you are one of those woman that gets their period every 28 days then you will have a period on the 28th day. You should ovulate on the 26th of May so if you want to become preggers then the best time to have sex would be between the 23rd and the 26th. Not everyone is the same tho so i would get some ovulation tests just to make sure. You should have sex only every other or every 3rd day during that time tho so that your mans sperm can replenish. There are a ton of great web sites out there to help you figure all this out - my fav right now is www.babyhopes.com
Good luck to you!

THE FIRST HALF OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE (Day 1 to About Day 14 in a 28-Day Cycle)

*** most woman conceive around the 14th day (give or take a day or so, but in that time period)

The first day of your menstrual period is considered Day 1 of your cycle. The menstrual phase includes your period.

THE MIDPOINT OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE (About Day 14 in a 28-Day Cycle)

The mature ovum bursts from the follicle about midway (approximately 2 weeks before onset of next menstrual period) through the menstrual cycle. This process is known as ovulation. The ovum then travels from the ovary down the fallopian tube, and into the uterus.

(count from the 1st day of your period)

28 days is the cycle of the period. Meaning that every 28 days a new "period" starts, where we women go through a week of Niagara falls between our legs, and then 3 weeks of bliss until it starts again.

If you are trying to get pregnant go for it this weekend, you should be ovulating starting Saturday. Women usually ovulate 14 days after the first day of their last cycle. Since you started on the 12, you could be ovulating anywhere from the 25th to the 28th. Good Luck!!!!! And your next period could start anywhere from June 9th to the 12th. (approx.)

You count your cycle from the first day that you start your period. Day 1 of your cycle is the day you start. Most women ovulate 10-14 days after the first day of their cycle.

For instance: You start your period on May 12st.... Count May 12th as your first day. You should be ovulating May 21-25 if your cycle is normal & averages 28 days.

There are ovulation predictor kits at your local pharmacy or Wal-Mart.

when you are taking birth control pills they put you on a four week regime (7 days times 4 weeks is 28 days). Typically then your period starts the same day four weeks after it did before. For example, if it started on Wednesday it will start next time on Wednesday four weeks later.
