Is Bush turning into the worst President you have ever heard of?

He can't run a war right...

He leaves the border open and promises amnesty.

And now, he is fighting to keep gas prices high.

What do you think???

even as a democrat I wouldn't have believed it if not for the link..

unbelievable.. simply unbelievable... the language just says they will go after those who unfairly take advantage.. it says nothing about regulating the free market or supply and demand.

wow.. The hole just gets deeper and deeper doesn't it.

Ummm. yeah. suited me if i'm incorrect yet this bill only addresses fee gouging in aspects of the rustic the place the president designates a cost freeze, which may be like in the form of a typhoon or another organic catastrophe. In different words this might do no longer something to your on a daily basis on the pump themes. the cost of gas will proceed to upward thrust. Many states already have this same law in place yet this might make it a Federal Crime in spite of state.

Apparently consumers think it's OK to boycott the oli companies by refusing to buy gasoline on certain days, and to fine the companies for what some consumers claim is price gouging. At least that's what they say on this website.

Maybe it's time for the oil companies to shut down the pumps and refuse to sell gasoline for a while. Then would consumers want the President to declare martial law and force the oil companies to open the pumps and sell gasoline for some artificial price suitable to the consumers? Do you think that would be right, or do think that's what we should expect of a communist dictator like Hugo Chavez? You can't have it both ways.

if we are going to fine (big) oil companies for price fixing making 8 cents a gallon profit maybe we should fine the fed and states for making 50-65 cents a gallon on something they have no hand in making or responsibility in handling! the fed and states make over 180million dollars a day in gas taxes based on the average daily usage in the us, who's making the money? besides that's like saying its price gouging when you pay to use something such as the Internet or a website you dint get anything tangable there. the smart thing would be to expand either alternative fuels or allow more refining capacity and new refineries. which will never happen with the libs around, because them and the media couldn't blame Conservatives then.

Surely even illiterates can speculate that the vague wording of the bill will discourage supply.

I really wish Basic Economics was taught in high schools, but I wonder how many people on this board have even gotten to high school yet.

Maybe the House should pass a bill to control pizza gouging. According to the article (I guess you read it) the White House says this amounts to Price Control and Bush plans to veto it if it gets to his desk (the Senate still has to pass it).

It's all political on the House's part. Anything to embarrass Bush.

I think I'd like to know for myself what's in the bill and why he wants to veto it before I decide.
