Regarding the car hops (people who bring the food to the car)...are you supposed to tip these people or not? I've had people tell me to tip them and other say not too.

Yes, tip. I base my tip on speed of delivery and weather conditions. If it is cold and rainy, I give them more of a tip.

You don't have to tip them but you should. If they are providing a service to you then you should tip them they say 15 to 20%. Waitress's usually make less then minimum wage. I don't know if it is the same with sonic car hops. I always tip at least 20% percent if the service is good. If it sucks I leave a very small tip instead of not tipping at all. That way they know you didn't forget to tip they know they gave poor service.

I always tip at Sonic, someone is serving me and they deserve a tip. They have to service people in the freezing cold and the extreme heat, plus in the rain too. I usually tip the servers at Sonic a little more than I would someone who serves me in a restaurant just because of the weather conditions they endure.

Actually Sonic car chics make about $10 per hour so if they stand their I would tip but if they don't act like need it then don't. Since they put that ATM swipe ur card I haven't been tipping because there is no way of doing so and if you don't have cash then it really isn't possible.

You should tip anytime somebody brings you food or drink. One major example where this is over looked is at buffets. Some buffets have servers for the drinks instead of help yourself drinks. You should tip them as well.
When in doubt tip them. It will not upset them, it might if you dont.

A car hop is like a waitress, she takes your order, brings your order, brings you napkins, straws, whatever you need...
you don't have to get out of the car because SHE is doing it for you... so yes, you tip.
I"ve never gone to a sonic!

I believe that you should tip them. I always do. It does not have to be 20 percent but you should give them something.

It is usually common courtesy to tip them. Though it's not required they expect it because it's the nice thing to do.
