I ask this because on the one hand 'Britain' as a sovereign state is dominated by England and yet the Welsh have a greater claim to descendency from the celtic 'Britons'; the earlier inhabitants of 'Britain' in the geographical sense.

Please help!

Speaking as a Welsh person (but not a nationalist) I would say they passionately consider themselves to be Welsh more than British.

Roy Hattersley, Journalist and previous Labour minister as quickly as wrote, "i'm English, no longer British yet English.i'm very proud approximately it, very patriotic approximately England." i assume a similar could desire to be pronounced approximately your boss and his experience of Welshness. British is something that's written on our passports as electorate of the united kingdom yet that would not unavoidably translate into how we sense as British nationals. To non-English Britons, Britain and England/British and English are used interchangeably, incredibly via the media. i'm Welsh, and that i've got observed on quite a few occassions that English human beings will clarify to foreigners how issues are "in England" while they're speaking approximately issues elementary to the entire uk. i could say the way issues are "in Britain". except i replaced into speaking approximately something particularly Welsh, i would not say "in Wales" as a results of fact i'm conscious that there are 3 different international places which proportion one in each and every of those great variety of elementary studies, rules, language, etc. It does irk me somewhat. i'm able to comprehend the way a non-English British person can sense somewhat alienated from the entire theory of Britishness. i assume you may desire to place your self in yet another person's shoes to savour it. via the way, in case you assert that "i'm properly conscious that this one person would not signify the entire of wales" why is your question entitled "Why is it Welsh human beings do no longer evaluate themselves British?" have not you completely contradicted your self there?
