I hate that too. I thought I was the only person that still got their TV from an antenna. I just use the one that came on my TV however. When I add it up I probably use the TV slightly more for watching DVDs and playing video games on.

Bet you did not think of this, but OTA (over the air) signal is free. You can usually get the 4 networks without paying anything. Some people do not stay glued to the idiot tube. Some people actually have a life outside of TV. Those are the ones who get their news and anything else that might be of their interest. Think about it. If you did not have to pay for cable at $40-$60 dollars a month, what would you do with the money? Some people like others have mentioned, only use the TV for viewing rented videos and playing games. Why waste $$s if you do not have to. There is always a choice. That is required by LAW. Hope this will help you understand.

Now that most of the people answering this have slapped around the "lazy" people, you might want to consider this, the local cable company where I live carries the local TV station ABC but if you have satellite you have to get a waiver from the local TV station to get ABC over the satellite, The Station refuses to issue any waivers, so if you want ABC you have to subscribe to cable, or use an antenna. kinda forces you to use the antenna or cable (which does not have a great selection of channels).

And starting in Feb. 2009 you will have to be prepared to rec. Digital signals and you will probably see more of the "OLD" antennas re-appear since they will enable you to rec. HD Digital TV without subscription Fees. I don't have one but I may start looking for one.

Because...*gasp* some people still use them. Not everyone has cable/dish tv and they can't get local channels without them. Also even if most people don't use them...who wants to go up and take down that stuff? They just wait until it blows off or falls off.

alot of people are too lazy to take them off. also when the cable or satellite is down you can still get a few channels with the antenna

Some places can only get local channels thru antennas and not thru satelite or cable. Besides, there are also a lot of people who don't have satelite or cable.
