san juan hill is located near El Canay, Cuba, 4 miles north of Santiago.

If you are looking for that odd bit of trivia then here is this:

Although history books say that Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders, along with the the 10th US Cavalry (Buffalo Soldiers) led the charge up San Juan Hill, that is incorrect. Roosevelt, the Rough Riders, and the 10th, actually led the Charge up Kettle Hill which was a smaller hill next to San Juan Hill.

The actual assualt up San Juan Hill was led by the 1st Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division. Roosevelt's troops joined in after they had secured Kettle Hill and assisted the 1st Infantry Division.

Isn't that the one led by Teddy Roosevelt in the Spanish/American war that took place in Cuba? (That is, San Juan Hill was in Cuba; the main fighting of the war was by the Navy in the Philippines.) Speaking of Maine, Remember it! An incident created by the yellow journalism of Pulitzer which moved Americans to patriotic fervor. Too bad they didn't know then what we know now, which is that the Maine was not sunk by a bomb or mine, or indeed, any enemy action.
