My god people.. You can be a saint while pregnant and your baby still can have problems.... Or you can do everything bad under the sun and have a healthy baby..

I smoked for both my pregnancies, neither one of my sons were born with any problems.. In fact both are smart, one graduated with honors and the other is currently ranked 40th out of 452.

My doctors were aware of my smoking. They did not send cps to the hospital or my home. They did not send cops to the hospital or my home..

I still smoke and live next door to our local cops. I have a job that i go to EVERY DAY. Smoking weed doesnt make you a bad person or a bad mom... Ask my sons .

One specific complication that I know if is a disease called Gastroschesis. Although not always, this disease has been linked to women who smoke marijuana while pregnant. What happens is that the umbilical cord does not fully form and the intestines and sometimes other organs form outside the baby's body. Most of these babies are born prematurely, and must have surgery to put the intestines back inside the baby's belly. There can and often are many other complications due to this- including bowel obstructions and breathing difficulties due to the organs pressing up against the lungs. Do some research on this if you want. I was born with this disease, although my mom wasn't smoking marijuana. Since my initial gastroschesis repair, I've had a bowel resection when i was 9 and have had other health issues that I will have to deal with my whole life. Although my case is fairly mild some have many surgeries, I know of a few who have to have sugery almost every year, and usually don't survive a very long life.

Stop criticizing the poor woman... she didn't post the question to be lectured by everybody on what she should or shouldn't do.

Marijuana does go into the baby's bloodstream, and if tested, will show positive. There may be signs of marijuana withdrawal from the baby... excessive crying and tremors. If your baby does experience these things, it is best to be up front with the doctors that you have smoked, instead of hiding it, so that your baby won't be unnecessarily tested for other diseases. You might be reprimanded, but they won't put you in jail or report you... they're just looking out for the health of the baby, and will probably thank you for being honest with them.

Don't listen to everyone... I'm sure you knew that it wasn't a good choice, and you didn't come here to be lectured. I hope that I answered your question.

Yes it could. I'm glad you haven't smoked it in a few weeks, but i'm really worried about what you might have done to your baby with having smoked it all through your pregnancy. Most of the time, they won't test for something like that at birth unless the baby isn't healthy and they have reason to belive that there's something wrong.
Make sure you don't smoke anymore and when the babys born , if you must smoke it, do it when someone else is watching your baby and never smoke near your child.
It's really risky behavior and you could loose your child either to child protective custody or crib death.
No more exposing your child to that stuff!!

it can also show up in the babys' hair. But that is only if they are looking for it. Like if you had a previous history of smoking and they knew about it. They cannot test without your knowledge just randomly like I said they only test if there is a reason to.

And by the way...you are pretty pathetic to smoke pot during pregnancy...why don't you just give your baby a beer instead of formula when its' born??? or better yet smoke more pot when he/she is born and then blow the smoke directly in the babys' face or hold the babys' mouth open and blow the smoke right into his/her lungs!!!

That is what you did anyway.

I'm not one to criticize because i smoke cigarettes which in my opinion are probably worse but why would you do that to yourself and risk losing your child to the state. No matter if it shows up in the baby or you, you're gonna go through hell with authorities. Three of my aunts had this happen to them and two of them it only showed up in them and not the baby and they had to work their butts off to get their kids back. Be careful, drink lots of water....you should be okay if you don't smoke till after the baby is born.

If you are pregnant you should not be smoking cigarette's or any other substance nor drinking. You sound like you are going to be a great MOM!! NOT. I guess it is true anyone can have a child.. You probably should consider giving up for adoption so it will have a chance at a good life.

usually 30 days to get out of blood stream. That said, you say you haven't smoked in a few weeks. My question is just how much/often did you smoke the previous 38 weeks of your pregnancy. A little too late to be concerned about it my dear.

THIS PERSON IS A DITZ AND PROBABLY SOME LITTLE TEENAGER GETTING THEIR JOLLIES ---- THEY JUST POSTED ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT BEING A HEROIN JUNKY AND HAVING TO SHARE WITH THE BABY.

and today you changed your "name"

"Basicly" your decision to smoke weed while pregnant was a conscious one but it was very selfish on your part. How could you think that'd be good for your baby? The weed may show up in his/her bloodstream, & you may be questioned by hospital staff. Being a good mother begins while your pregnant. Try putting your baby first from now on & give up the weed.
