The real diet of this species should be a 'meaty' fish food diet. Live or frozen/thawed things like worms, insects, shrimp, snails, krill, etc. You can also try beefheart.

If the turtle is over about 4", you can also add some dark leafy greens and some occasional vegetables- but no fruits, light green lettuce, fatty meats, lunch meats, breads, etc.

Try your back yard- should be some nice juicy bugs or worms there!

In a pinch, you can try cooked chicken or bits of fish (messy, but OK).

Besides- your turtle, if in good health, can skip a few days with no ill effects. In the wild, they often go for a week or more without eating.

Raw meat would be fine like chicken or beef. Also, they love uncooked hot dogs. Maybe cold cuts you have lying around your fridge. I used to feed my sliders little pieces of hot dogs I broke off with my finger. Just be careful as meat will pollute your water quickly so be sure to change the water regularly. They also like small fish and insects like crickets. Small chunks of tuna fish from a can should work nicely, too, as I'm sure you don't have access to small fish if you can't make it to the store. Good luck!

What's the age/size? Young ones are more meat-eaters, older ones would eat more vegetable matter. You can pick out the specific types of food from the other answers, or see these links:

My RES loves fruits. She won't eat vegetables, I've already tried all the recommend ones. They'll usually eat strawberries, bananas, apples w/o the skin as long as its small enough to swallow easily.

Any kind of raw fruit or vegetables like lettuce or apples. That should hold him over until you go to the store.
