An IUD isn't in the arm it's in your uterus. Norplant is in the arm. I had a friend who had Norplant and she got fat...really fat. I have an IUD and it is wonderful. I, much like you, cannot remember to take pills so it is a wonderful option. There is a 5yr and a 10. I have the 5. And if ever I want to get pregnant I just go to the doctor, he removes it and I can get pregnant almost immediately. I have Merena. (Spelling?) It doesn't hurt. And it stops your cycle. Good luck.

The arm implants were called Norplant, and they are no longer on the market. The IUD is an intrauterine device, but you're only a good candidate if you've had kids, are likely done having kids, and are in a monogamous relationship.

IUD's are implanted in the uterus. Norplant was taken off the market years ago. Implanon is a new contraceptive implanted under the skin of the arm.

the implant in your arm is called an Implanon its new and safer than Norplant. There is actually an article I read last night in Good Housekeeping about it and other birth control methods, or just look it up in a search.

IUD stands for intra-uterine device, it's in the uterus, not the arm. I think you are thinking about sub cutaneous hormone implants, and you would have to get the cost from a doctor, each seems to charge differently.
