Use F.O.I.L or foil....
F-FIRST
O-Outside
I-Inside
L-LAST

For your problem....
Start with F (first) Take the first numbers in each group of numbers in parenthesis. (3 and 2) and MULTIPLY THEM (6x squared)

Now go to O (outside) Take the numbers on the outsides of the ENTIRE thing (3 and 6) and multiply them (-18x)

Go to I (inside) Take the numbers on the INSIDE of the ENTIRE thing (4 and 2) and MULTIPLY THEM (8x)

Go to L (last) Take the Last numbers from both groups in parenthesis (6 and 4) and MULTIPLY THEM (-24)

Now combine all the things you have ( 6x squared + 8x - 18x -24)
YOUR ANSWER: 6x squared -10x -24

6x^2-10x-24

Use FOIL: First, Outer, Inner, Last.

In this case (3x * 2x) + (3x * -6) + (4 * 2x) + (4 * -6)

Use FOIL
first
outer
inner
last

6x^2 - 18x + 8x -24 = 0

answer...
6x^2 - 10x - 24

FOIL Method

A technique for distributing two binomials. The letters FOIL stand for First, Outer, Inner, Last. First means multiply the terms which occur first in each binomial. Then Outer means multiply the outermost terms in the product. Inner means multiply the innermost two terms. Last means multiply the terms which occur last in each binomial. Then simplify the products and combine any like terms which may occur.

Example: (x + 2)(x + 5) = x·x + x·5 + 2·x + 2·5
First Outer Inner Last

= x2 + 7x + 10

(3x+4)(2x-6) = 6x^2 -10x -24

(3x+4)(2x-6) = 6x² - 10x - 24

Multiply each term in the first parentheses by each term in the second parentheses - and add it all up.

In other words, what you do is FOIL :
Multiply the
F = firsts: the 1st term in the 1st parentheses by the1st term in the 2nd parentheses
O = outsides: the 1st term in the 1st parentheses by the 2nd term in the 2nd parentheses
I = insides: the 2nd term in the 1st parentheses by the 1st term in the 2nd parentheses
L = lasts: the 2nd term in the 1st parentheses by the 2nd term in the 2nd parentheses

(3x+4)(2x-6) =
3x·2x - 3x·6 + 4·2x - 4·6 =
6x² - 18x + 8x - 24 =
6x² - 10x - 24

Hope this helps

If you are factoring it then you would FOIL it.
You do first, outside, inside, last.
6x-18x+8x-24
6x-10x-24
