Fear, ignorance and intolerance... apparently they think the not judging others part in the Bible doesn't apply to them.

"Conservatives" is a very general label, yet I believe most see themselves as strong biblical people. They read the Bible literally. However, there are some things that they do not follow. Some denominations condemn homosexuality, because they read the Bible as saying it is immoral. Thus, if the Bible says it is immoral then, it is to them as well. Also, many "Conservatives" love tradition. It has been a deeply held tradition that relationships are to be between a man and a woman, again, because the Bible portrays it that way. Most are very rigid in their beliefs. And sadly, can almost always come up with justification for their belief, even if it doesn't make since to them. Basically I think that they are at fault with negligent ignorance. Meaning that they have not tried to understand the LGBT community, they have perhaps avoided the subject because they believe they know the answer. They believe it is a sin, thus, they don't need to understand.

i wasn't aware that society had a moral fabric, but most conservatives are disgusted by gay people because they see them as a threat on a personal level and are afraid of it. more so than a threat to the american dream, basic "family values" of america, and society as a whole. and yeah, it does most likely stem from someone's mother and religion.

maybe it disturbs their illusion of being the only "right ones". when they see that being gay does not hinder one into the poverty and perversion of a "lesser citizen". not that i think there are more successful gays now than in the past, i think they just dont feel the need to hide it as much. to be committing such an unpardonable sin and to be successful in buisness and family probably really pisses those righties off??
...likely to stem from religion and politics, or maybe someones mother.

Because we live our lives and enjoy them. We don't see suffering as a virtue....gay people have learned how to have fun inspite of the Conservatives.

Moral fabric? I think you meant "Immoral fabric". It has already been corrupted by lying and thieving politicians.
They might be afraid it will dislodge the good ol' boy system.
