Cause nobody wants to see that. Movies are about escapism generally, not everyday mundane things.

They started going to the bathroom back with Leave It To Beaver when Wally and Theodore went to brush their teeth. Then there was that scene on the Dick Van Dyke show where Laura got her toe caught in the bath tub faucet and the faucet had to be cut off. Tim Allen did an epsiode of Home Improvement that featured the man's bathroom. If by go to the bathroom you mean use the toilet, I believe came close on Grey's Anatomy when Izzie was on the toilet while George was in the shower. I don't think she actually used the toilet but she was on it. And on Hannah Montanna they forced Hannah and her brother to share a bathroom in a comedy skit. As to why they are reluctant to do any more than this, it is because censors, in other words parents, don't want it on television.

Because in the majority of cases there isn't one. Ever see one on the Enterprise or in the courthouse or the lab? When House limps through his hospital, do you see any doors labeled Men or Women? Shrek is the first movie character I saw with an outhouse and I don't think Bruce Willis ever stopped for a tinkle. My suspicion is that TV and movie people have bladders the size of 30 gallon trashcans.
