Wasnt oil money supposed to pay for this war? Why is my gas still over 3.00/gallon?

during the initial stages of the war, "the Republicans" said the bulk of reconstuction costs will be covered by Iraqi oil revenue. I'm a conservative, I dont listen to democrat propaganda. But, republicans need to stop defending the liberal Bush and his lies. Oil use didnt double over the last two years as the prices have.

Who told you that? Certainly wasn't the Bush Administration! It's what the Libs put out for talking points. You gas is over $3.00 because......I know you're going to hate this but here goes.....The problem is that most people do not understand supply and demand economics and what the structure is of the cost of gas per gallon. Do you know that we are using more oil now than EVER before! People are driving at an alarming rate. Do you realize how much petroleum’s used in making plastics and then how many things we use are made of plastics? The oil company makes about 9 cents a gallon as profit. The rest is made up of Federal and State taxes, the cost of exploration and production, Refining and then the cost of the additives that we have to put in the gas (we call it designer gas, thanks to the environmentalist wacko's). Do you know that we have not built a refinery in almost 40 years? (thanks again environmentalist). The refineries that we have are working at capacity and that is not enough to keep up with demand. Do you know that we hardly get any oil from the Middle East? Most people think that is where it all comes from. Not true. We get our oil form Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Africa, in that order. What we get from Saudi is a very small %. You want the cost of gas to drop....STOP driving, open up the ANWR for drilling and off our coasts (thanks again environmentalist) OR come up with an alternate fuel.

So you're pissed about the high price of gas? The problem has nothing to do with the war. It is the fault of every woman in America.

That's right, I said women are to blame for the high gas prices. The reason is simple: women don't screw men who ride the bus. Women only hook up with men who drive fancy cars.

Men don't care about their cars; they care about their poon tang. Men see that women give it up for the nice cars, so they go out and buy Escalades and Hummers. This raises the overall consumption of gasoline which increases the demand for gas and therefore the price goes up.

If women screwed guys on buses, then more men would ride the bus. Fewer cars would be on the road, there would be less traffic, less pollution, fewer greenhouse gasses, and Al Gore would be happy. More importantly, gas consumption would decrease and by the laws of supply and demand, the price of gas would go down drastically.

So women, I want you all to do your part for gas prices, the economy, and for the environment...

F*CK THE GUYS ON THE BUS!!!

I don't recall anyone promising that the war would bring down gas prices.

The justifications for the war were largely that Sadam Hussein was researching nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and threating the US and Israel long term.

Even under the Clinton years, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and other justified Clinton's bombing of Iraq for exactly the same reasons.

Couple of thoughts on the answers we've gotten on this question:

"The war wasn't for oil"....is it because Saddam was a dictator? Then ask yourself this question my friend....why aren't we fighting Saudi Arabia? Why aren't we knee deep in Africa??? Every country over there has a dictator that is represive. You are plain childish if you don't have a clear understanding of why we are in Iraq...I don't need Nancy "f'ing" Pelosi to tell me that. Our economy will collapse if oil from the Middle east gets cut off....period!

Oh and as for the first question: Good luck with that. We are fighting for our way of life...period...not oil payments.

You know that is a great question! I would also like to know where the hell my money is going and why the hell its jumped up tp 3.45 a gallon in the span of a month. This is absurd and downright infirating! The government is letting it happen to us and until we all band together nothing will happen!! I think that the lawmakers outta be put on trial for letting this happen!! GRRRR

Because the war was never about oil. If you believed it was, stop listening to Nancy Pelosi.

It's still expensive for two reasons:
1. OPEC
2. The oil companies aren't lowering profit margin % like a normal business would have to because they know they can get away with it.

people who work in some sort of thing that relates to cars have made rely on cars. They built streets for mostly cars, so now ONLY cars are the only option for transportation. Now they can make us pay big for oil and gas, because we need our cars to move. It's like their taking advantage of us. War is an excuse to make us pay big for gas.
