I really don't know him, so I don't know if he is a jackass or not, and if he was in it for the fame and fortune, I think he would just make movies that everyone wants to see, but instead he just makes movies that some people want to see and some don't want you to see? your question should be why don't some people want you to see his movie? and when have you ever heard of the government going after a movie producer like this before? he could just make dumb everyday films and never have to deal with this stuff! I think he thinks he is doing some good, and I for one believe someone needs to be asking some questions, we the people have been so far removed from our own government, that we better start thing as Americans and not as dems and repubs.

I think Michael Moore hates George Bush and the Republicans. He is against the war in Iraq. He also has the courage and the means to express his ideas proving that freedom of speech is alive and well in America. I also think he has the welfare of our country at heart.

He is loud, crass, physically unappealing and yet he is unafraid to speak out. Most of us lack his fortitude. We just go along with the status quo.

I do think that he is very adept at taking some things out of context to increase his credibility. Thus far, he has been successful in avoiding saying anything that would provide his opponents with grounds for suing him for libel, as I'm sure they would do if they felt so entitled. So there must be a whole bunch of truth in the things he says.

He speaks out about what he considers to be wrong with our country. Maybe he is a little too harsh and sensational. He also fails to provide any suggestions for fixing what's wrong. It's not a bad idea to listen to his side of the story. Then you can form your own opinion.

Personally don't know Mr. Moore - however I find it absolutely criminal that a Michgian Congress said (Farh 9/11) that Congressman/woman DO NOT read the laws that they sign.

How moronic, idiotic, and treasonist that these bastards and bitches sign laws that they don't read. Why the Media kept quiet about this fact is beyond me. These 'law' makers who blindly sign documents should be taken from their homes in the middle of the night and be 'tard & feathered'.

Have a great day.

Wow! In only the first 7 minutes of this posting we have 35 answers that display every form of right-wing idiocy as it relates to the truth! Bravo, fascists!

Moore has become slightly rich and famous for exposing the hideously ugly underbelly of the American Dream as it is promoted by political thugs, corporate vampires and religious charlatans.

He's not always right, but he gets closer than anyone else and that's what scares the beJesus out of the leaders of our emerging theocracy.

Personally, I try really hard to avoid things that make my head hurt, ie. Michael Moore, Al Gore, Bill & Hillary, "The Breck Boy" Edwards, Kerry, T. Kennedy, The Justice Bros (Sharpton & Jackson). I find I need far less Motrin when I don't listen to any of them!

He is definitely a jackass. He uses half-truths, outrageous comparisons and outright lies to make some flimsy political argument

I think Moore is as progressive as they come. I think at times he has an agenda, but he always manages to drive a point, usually a noble one, home.

Moore tapped into the flim industry by making compelling documentaries, and in turn was able to reach out to a much larger group of people. Espically the younger generations, he found a way to get them involved in things they were seemingly uninterested in.

If he only cared in money and fame he could be making films about anything, I think his intentions for his films are clearly in the interest of the American people, regardless of whether or not you agree with him.

And FYI 'Matt A', he did not take 'soldiers' to Cuba, he took relief workers from Ground Zero, who are now suffering from various illness to get medical treatment. His upcoming documentary isn't about the war it is about Health Care in America.
