I heard from this friend of mine that families usually want girls to have babysit their kids. I personally think its bull **** because it doesn't matter the gender of the person, it matters on how good the person is at babysitting and if they have experience or not. So what do u personally think?

Not the slightest problem of either sex, unless my daughter was in her teens then you'd have to stay away!!!

I wouldn't let a guy babysit my girls. I know that there are good guys out there but I'm not taking chances. On the other hand I rarely let anyone babysit them. My mother in law helps a whole lot.
It is true that guys can be just as good with kids as women and some are great at it. I think I can do a great job as a father and can be trusted with 3 girls but I've been a teenager before and I wouldn't trust myself with little girls at that age. I was a bundle of hormones. Later I calmed down and things are different as a father.
And people... get off the " we've been taught that women are better than men...blah blah"... THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE.
The issue is "Can I trust a teenager or a man full of hormones with my little girls?"
Heck, these days I'm not sure you can trust even boys with men anymore. I know there are weird women around as well, but definitelly not as many.

Its a social thing in this country. We have been taught to believe that women are better caretakers than men. I don't agree with that simply because I know my mother. However, maybe you could get a file of references together. Families you have worked for who would write a letter, or take a call. Maybe you should name your business something generic like Kid Care on a Dime - put out a flyer and when they call, be ready with information and the reference list. You could put together a resume of your skills, certifications (CPR, FIRST AID) and as I said, a reference file for the potential cusotmer to view and follow up on. DOn't allow them to call you whole book, but maybe ask your best families if they will take a cal. ALSO you will probably need to be ready to supply your police record - making yourself transparent will help relieve some of the sterotypes that come with the area you are trying to become employable in.

I think you are right. If a guy offered to babysit my girls I would be kewl with that. As long as my girls like him and there aren't any bad motives.

Does the same logic mean that women are better parents?

Would my father have done a better job if he were a woman?

Its up to you who you trust your children with. Can they entertain the children? Can they protect the children from harm? Can they deal with emergencies? Do the know first aid?
