A Nuclear Power Station would be far better as the income it would generate for the local inhabitants would far outweigh the risks.
The long term strategists would probably agree that having such an amenity close by would also raise the skill / education levels of the locals too.
A Wind Farm with enough turbines to generate the same output as a nuclear power station just isn't feasible. So really you shouldn't compare the two.
Wind Farms do have their place though, preferably out in the ocean somewhere, as these are terrible to look at when there is more then one.

I also live a few miles away from Sellafield,and there are big wind turbines a few more miles up the road,i would like to live inside the wind turbine for a few days. Hello to the other Cumbrian further up the list yoo hoo marra!!

A wind farm, no contest. They may be a bit ugly but when the oil runs out everybody will be wanting one, and there's no pollution.

Wind farm for definate.
They are still reports of sea life off the coast of Cumbria (by Sellafield) with high levels or radiation - scary!
