my girlfriend is a cheerleading coach.....I get stuck listening to her talk about it way more than I want.....So here's my advice

-most importantly....talk to the coaches well before tryouts....see what they think you should do to improve on the things they will want to see

-don't be a little brat....and don't let your parents be idiots (this might not hurt your chances of making the team....but it will certainly make the coach and the coaches boyfriends' lives a lot easier)

-be punchy in your motions.....don't just put your arms out at a 82degree angle......punch them out there quickly and they better be at a 90degree angle from the rest of your body

-be cheery......seriously....it's obvious and gets overlooked

-WANT to be in the gym making signs and all that other b.s.

-and show them that you're there to learn. if you aren't the greatest at tryouts but it looks like you're going to bust your as.s.....they'll overlook your weaknesses a lot of the time.

good luck

I was not on a high school or college cheer squad ( I was on the dance/drill team) but I was a pro cheerleader for a few years. I would say smile, and put the smile in your voice and actions. If you scowl like your avatar does then probably not.

it really depends what the requirements are for that squad you want to be on
For an all star squad most requirments are at least a backhandspring for level 1 cheering
but for high school 'cheering' sometimes there are no tumbling or exsperience requirements
if your team is a 5a school usually you have to have a backhandspring/jumps but if your working on it dont sweat! theyll see your determination
look luck!

Well, I am a cheer coach, and at my school it doesn't matter if you have experience or not. That's what practice is for. You gotta start somewhere. Keep working on all your skills and go ahead and tryout for the team. Good luck!!

It is hard to make the squad your first time out...if you don't find out what she thinks u should work on and come back next year more prepared.

There are better things to do with your life than cheer squad. Put all that energy into something constructive, like school work. Do something with your life. You can't be a cheerleader forever.

yes you can! in fact, a year a go i had ZERO experience in cheerleading or gymnastics or any of that and my friend who cheered for my school convinced me to just take a risk and try out with her. and i made varsity! it turned out to be my hidden talent (haha) so you should just do it!
