What does it mean to you that all americans are to respect the rights of others?

It means you do your own work and do not steal ideas from others as you cheat on your homework.

All humans are endowed with certain inalienable and universal rights. The right to life, liberty and property ("pursuit of happiness" was a compromise to those colonies which did not have universal property rights). The right to have a fair say in their government.

Check out the preamble to the Declaration of Independence for a good summary of the idea.

It means that Americans have to stop considering themselves as the only people on the planet. We continually stick our nose in other countries business, and we have reverted from our diplomatic days of WW1 & 2. Back then we interfered when needed, now we interfere needlessly.
