Dead Alive, directed by Peter Jackson. Zombies killed in about 100 different ways, with the main characters practically sliding around in gore. Messy, but so over-the-top it's kinda funny.

I wanna say something like Privare Ryan, but I thik the goriest film I've seen is the trailer I saw online yesterday for "John Rambo." Holy smoke! People are gonna laugh, but that looks like it's going to be an INTESE movie!

Pan's Labyrinth had some pretty gorey scenes in it. The story wasn't the goriest overall but there were three scenes where I had to turn my face away from the screen.

...hands down, the goriest series of films I have ever seen, are a series of films imported from Japan, called the "Guinea Pig' series; these films are so outright disgusting and blood-soaked, yet so hypnotically compelling, they defy you to look away in facinating detest, despite the tendancy for the bile to rise in ones throat.

...gut-wretchingly grotesque, yet in a weird way, artistic as well!!!

There's a engrossing, whole backstory behind the 'Guinea Pig' series, involving real copycat serial killers in Japan, the resulting (and successive) banning of the films.....and aggravated fervor involving actor Charlie Sheen(?), of all people; it's a facinating read, alone worth checking out, regardless of whether one actually sees the films....
