Maybe because Bush has the "Leave no one behind" idea. The rest of the world knows we graduate anyone!

You use spurious ideas and data... simply put, the educational 'graduation' equivalents vary widely between nations, and thus there is little acceptance of any qualification without review. If you want your 'diploma' to be valued and accepted elsewhere, the best idea is to contact the individual country in question. Similarly, the 'diplomas' from other nations are not readily accepted in the US.

If you think the US educational system in general and overall is not as good as other nations, you need to spend some time out of the US. We have nothing to be ashamed of.

High school diplomas aren't really necessary in the U.S. either, except for admittance to secondary education. Fortunately, there are grants and loans aplenty for even poor people to get an education, if they're willing to put in the time to look for them.

Well, I am going to be rather stereotypical, but usually those with just a high school diploma are not going overseas to get a job. They typically remain here and work for lower wages.

If you want to get something accepted everywhere, then go to college.

Is it any wonder when a good majority of them graduate without knowing how to read and write?

What my kids are learning in grade three these days is tougher than anything I took in high school in my day...the cirriculum is tough but at least kids are pushed to their fullest potential....and we're not even talking private schools here.

What do you expect when teacher's unions are run by liberals?

They are a failure and have no competition so there is no incentive to do anything.
