My boyfriend (26) has shooting pains in his left abdomen, just a couple of inches below his ribs, for about an hour after we have sex. It's only when things get kind of out of hand, last a long time (think 60 minutes+), and he doesn't have an orgasm. I thought it might have been a digestive coincidence, but it happens regardless of what - or whether or not - he's eaten.

Anyone else have this? Could it be muscle strain? Swallowing air? I'd offer more info on his past but I'm the only one that he's ever been with....

I've heard of blue balls, thanks, but never heard of it hurting in the abdomen...hence the question. (I'm a bit more...experienced than he is and never seen anything like this before.)

He should consult with his doctor who is qualified, trained, and licensed to answer such questions. People on this site are not.

Lower Abdomen Pain In Men

Pardon my ignorance, but could it be his appendix? Not everyone's organs are on the same sides, and perhaps these are indications of a pending rupture?
Pls have him go to a clinic (or emergency if he's in real pain) and have them analyze his situation. He may have some other organ ailment that is in the beginning of failure. Because this is not a standard thing to happen with guys during love-making, his body is saying something is amiss, so take care of it very soon!

It could be a lot of things - a hernia, or the appendix, somethng wrong with the colon. Whatever, an hour of lovemaking isn't abnormal (I could use an hour or two myself!)
I'd get him to a doctor, a clinic somewhere pronto to make sure the cramp doesn't become something very serious.
Take care of it and go for 2 hours!

I had that - and later discovered that endometriosis was the culprit. Not to say that you have it - but expecially if you have bad cramping during periods and long bleeding...it's a possibility. I'd check with your doctor - don't be embarrassed. Meantime talk honestly with your boyfriend about being a bit more gentle - try other positions that allow you to control some of his depth of penetration.

This might be off the topic, but it's the first thing that came to mind when I read this. Gas/constipation. Seriously, I never had it happen to me after sex, but all that you are explaining about sharp pains in your lower abdomen. Reminds me of a previous experience I had when I was constipated. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I have had this problem for years. It sent me to the emergency room more then once. I have made a full circle of doctors including general surgeons ( who refused to operate without a specific goal to attack).

I went back to my Urologist just coincidentally when the pain was starting again. He examined me and said I think it is a cramp.

After all the years he put me on a low dose of Valium at night 2mg and told me to drink plenty of water (muscles tend to cramp without enough water). IT WORKED!!!

Sounds like a hernia or a prostate issue

Could also be a sports or work muscle injury

Hernia? Appendix (ok, I forget which side that's on!)? ;) Could it be something unrelated to sex, but more related to excessive physical activity?
